SBU detains “mole” in the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: he leaked coordinates of F-16 and Mirage 2000 basing to Russia

The SBU Military Counterintelligence, together with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine , exposed another Russian military intelligence agent in the ranks of the Defense Forces. He was a major pilot-instructor of one of the Air Force brigades, which performs combat missions to shoot down missiles and drones and supports the Armed Forces’ air operations, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
The investigation found that the agent performed several GRU tasks. In particular, he
- transmitted to the enemy the coordinates of the airfields where F-16, Mirage 2000 and Su-24 aircraft were based;
- informed about flight schedules and sequence, personal data of Ukrainian pilots, aircraft tail numbers and weapons;
- passed on an analytical note with recommendations on the tactics of combined strikes to bypass the Air Force’s defense system.
The suspect communicated with his Russian supervisor via anonymous e-mail and “secret chats” in messengers.
The SBU detained the agent while he was trying to collect another batch of intelligence. He is being served with a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code (high treason under martial law), which provides for life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The investigation is being conducted by the SBU in Ivano-Frankivsk region under the supervision of the Specialized Defense Prosecutor’s Office of the Western Region.
