The Security Service of Ukraine has detained a 17-year-old boy suspected of preparing a terrorist attack near the administrative building of the territorial recruitment center in Kyiv, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
According to the investigation, the boy was already under house arrest in the case of arson of military vehicles. Nevertheless, he resumed communication via messenger with his FSB supervisor and agreed to a new task – to plant explosives near the TCC.
The SBU found that the Russian secret service had given the teenager the coordinates of a cache with an improvised explosive device based on plastid. According to the handlers’ plan, the explosion was to be carried out remotely together with the perpetrator.
The law enforcement detained the suspect on his attempt to deliver the explosive to the facility.
He was served a notice of suspicion of preparing a terrorist attack committed in collusion with a group of persons (Part 1 of Article 14, Part 2 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). An additional qualification is also being considered – high treason under martial law (Part 2 of Article 111 of the CCU).
The teenager is in custody. He faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
