NSDC Secretary Umerov announces talks on return of 1200 Ukrainian prisoners of war

National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov announced on his Telegram channel that he is negotiating the return of 1,200 Ukrainian prisoners before the New Year holidays, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

According to him, on behalf of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, he held consultations with the mediation of partners in Turkey and the UAE to resume this process.

“As a result of these negotiations, the parties agreed to activate the Istanbul agreements. We are talking about the release of 1200 Ukrainians,” Umerov said.

The NSDC Secretary said that technical consultations will be held in the near future. They should finalize all procedural and organizational issues.

on November 11, Umerov said that he had arrived in Istanbul for new negotiations on the exchange of prisoners between Ukraine and Russia. According to the politician, in the coming days he will work in Turkey and the Middle East to “unblock the process” of such exchanges. He also said that “there was an agreement and it needs to be implemented.”

The next day, however, the Russian dictator’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said that there was nothing to report on the NSDC Secretary’s plan at this time.
