The President of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy Serhiy Kvit called on society and business to support the Academy without the need for privatization or compromise with values. He wrote about this on his Facebook page, emphasizing that the Academy is developing thanks to the joint efforts of many people who care, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
“To do more, do we need to privatize the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy? No, it is enough to just support it,” Kvit wrote.
He said that today Mohyla Academy is actively developing infrastructure: opening modern laboratories, launching unique educational programs, restoring historic buildings, collaborating with businesses on scholarships, and building solar power plants. In addition, the university is creating an inclusive space and funds to commemorate the fallen residents of Mohyla.
“This is a movement that you can join. You can join it. Without privatization. No compromise on values. Without ‘owners’. Just as people who believe in high-quality, independent Ukrainian education,” Kvit emphasized.
He emphasized that support for education is a matter for the whole society, not just the state. And everyone can contribute to the development of one of the most authoritative universities in the country – business, philanthropists, alumni, students, and citizens.

“As a society and business that cares,” Kvit added.

Earlier, Tymofiy Mylovanov, President of the Kyiv School of Economics, said that Kyiv-Mohyla Academy could do more if it were a private educational institution.
According to Milovanov’s calculations, Mohyla Academy is worth $40-50 million, “but it is unprofitable, don’t forget that.”
KSE President Tymofiy Mylovanov has been talking about buying the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy for months. This should make it more efficient, and help KSE develop more rapidly.
The private Kyiv School of Economics (KSE) is preparing a request to the Ministry of Education and Science (MES) to acquire the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.
According to Tymofiy Mylovanov, Kyiv-Mohyla Academy is the oldest university in Ukraine, with more than 4,700 students, according to the State Education and Business Register. It is consistently among the top three in the Forbes Ukraine ranking of universities that provide the best training for a career in business, particularly in economics and IT. Milovanov also reminded that Kyiv School of Economics used to be a structural part of Mohyla Academy.
