Australian-American actor Julian McMahon, famous for his role as Cole in the TV series Charmed, has passed away at the age of 56. This was reported to Deadline by his wife Kelly, who confirmed that the actor died after a battle with cancer, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

McMahon died on July 2 at his home in Clearwater, Florida, after a long battle with cancer. His wife, Kelly, said in an official statement:

“It is with an open heart that I want to share with the world the news that my beloved husband, Julian McMahon, passed away this week after a courageous battle with cancer. Julian loved life. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work and his fans. His greatest wish was to bring joy to as many people as possible. We ask for your support at this time so that our family can grieve in private. And we wish everyone Julian brought joy to continue to find joy in life. We are grateful for the memories.”

According to media reports, the actor did not advertise his illness and maintained his privacy throughout his treatment.

What is known about McMahon

Julian is originally from Sydney. His father, Billy McMahon, was the Prime Minister of Australia from 1971 to 1972. After starting his career in modeling, McMahon moved on to acting, landing leading roles in several long-running national TV series. In 1992, he starred in the movie “Crazy Summer at Sea!” and then moved to Hollywood, where he landed a role in the NBC series “Another World.” In 1993, the artist joined the main cast of the project “The Profiler” and then joined the popular series “All Women Are Witches”, where he played the role of the demon Cole Turner.

After leaving the project, the actor landed his first leading role as Dr. Christian Troy in Ryan Murphy’s series Body Parts, which earned him a Golden Globe nomination. Later, Julian was cast in the lead role in FBI: Most Wanted, where he played the leader of the criminal investigation team, Jess Lacroix. The actor suddenly left the series in March 2022.

In movies, he is best known for playing Dr. Doom in two Fantastic Four films, Fantastic Four: The Rise of the Silver Surfer, Premonition, and Paranoia. McMahon’s latest project is the Netflix detective series The Residence, in which he played the role of the Prime Minister of Australia.
