Shmyhal: Tariff increase did not cover the market value of electricity

The increase in electricity tariffs for households to 4.32 UAH/kW still does not cover its market value, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said, according to Nv.ua.
“Even this increase did not cover the market value. The market price of electricity today fluctuates around UAH 7-8. We set the tariff at 4.32, based on the cheapest cost of Energoatom and Ukrhydroenergo. Plus, the cost of delivery to people is included in the two components. And this is the lowest cost of the cheapest electricity that we have in the country and which is available today,”
– the Prime Minister said.
On 1 June, the Cabinet of Ministers raised the electricity tariff by 60% at once. The possibility of an increase in electricity tariffs was discussed after the largest-scale Russian attack on the Ukrainian energy sector. It is known that Centrenergo lost 100% of its generation, and DTEK had 80% of its capacity damaged.
Ukrenergo predicts the most severe blackout situation in July.
