Storm warning due to ice: where the worst conditions are expected

On Monday, January 27, Ukraine is expected to experience severe weather conditions with heavy ice. In this regard, a storm warning (level I hazard) has been issued. Drivers and pedestrians are urged to take the weather forecast into account in advance and to be as careful as possible. This was reported by the State Agency for Community and Territorial Development, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
Where ice and ice cover are expected
According to forecasters, ice cover is possible on trees, wires, and buildings in the following regions:
- Vinnytsia
- Cherkasy
- Poltava
- Kirovohrad
- Dnipropetrovsk
- Zhytomyr
- Kyiv
- Chernihiv
- Sumy
- Odessa
- Mykolaiv
- Kherson regions.
At the same time, significant icy conditions on roads and sidewalks are forecast for almost the entire country, with the exception of the southern regions — Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia.
Why these weather conditions are dangerous
The Recovery Agency warns that ice can complicate the work of energy, construction, and utility companies, as well as traffic.

- increased risk of traffic accidents;
- falling branches and broken wires;
- delays in public transport.
