Penalties for updating data without passing the MIC: refutation of the Ministry of Defence

When renewing military registration data, a military medical examination is not required. It is only necessary to undergo a military medical examination after receiving a relevant summons. This was reported by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine in connection with the fact that some telegram channels disseminated inaccurate information about fines for failure to undergo a military medical examination when updating military records, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
The Ministry of Defence noted that Ukrainian legislation currently provides for certain types of military service, including updating data and undergoing a medical examination to determine the degree of fitness for military service.
“The Ministry of Defence emphasises that when updating data, a military medical examination is not required. Passing the military medical commission is necessary only after receiving a summons to pass the military medical commission,”
– the statement reads.
Mark Andrusiak, Director of the Ministry of Defence’s Personnel Policy Department, said:
“The law stipulates that updating data by citizens is a separate type of military duty. In addition, Article 21 of the law on mobilisation training and mobilisation provides for a separate obligation of citizens to undergo a medical examination to determine their fitness for military service.”
It should be noted that under the law on mobilisation, persons liable for military service who fail to update their military registration data by 16 July may be held administratively liable with fines ranging from UAH 17,000 to 25,000. The update applies to men aged 18 to 60 and certain categories of women.
