Dynamo scandal: new striker Blenace turned out to be a fan of Solovyov and Brigada

Dynamo Kyiv is at the center of a scandal after the transfer of 23-year-old Romanian striker Vladislav Blenutse.

Although the club hoped that the player would strengthen the attacking line after the departure of Vladislav Vanat, it turned out that the newcomer to the team has questionable preferences related to Russian propaganda. This was reported by tribuna, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

Details of the scandal

Tribuna journalists found out that Blenutse posted videos on his TikTok page with statements by Russian propagandist Vladimir Solovyov about Moldova. In addition, the footballer demonstrated his affection for the soundtrack from the cult Russian TV series Brigade, which featured actors who openly support Vladimir Putin’s policies.

When the information became public, the attacker quickly closed access to his profile, making it private.

However, the scandal did not end there: the player’s wife also appeared on social media, sharing videos praising the Russian president and publications with nostalgia for the USSR.

Financial details of the contract

According to Romanian media, Blenutse’s transfer cost Dynamo 2.5 million euros (about UAH 120 million). The player signed a five-year contract and will earn about 30 thousand euros (1.5 million UAH) per month in Kyiv.

The European Cup context

Dynamo’s season is not going well. The team started in the Champions League with a victory over Malta’s Hamroun Spartans, but was eliminated by Paphos of Cyprus and later Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Europa League qualifiers. As a result, Kyiv will continue to play in the Conference League.

The topic of football players’ loyalty to Ukraine and their political views has repeatedly been the subject of controversy in domestic sports. After the outbreak of a full-scale war against Russia, Ukrainian clubs, including Dynamo and Shakhtar, refused to cooperate with players who demonstrated sympathy for the “Russian world.”

At the same time, Dynamo’s transfer policy has been repeatedly criticized by fans for the unsuccessful selection of legionnaires who do not bring the expected results on the field. The situation with Blenace could further aggravate the club’s relations with the fan community, which is particularly sensitive to any pro-Russian manifestations in times of war.
