Scandal in the Rada: Boyko to be recalled from the Human Rights Committee

The Verkhovna Rada has submitted a draft resolution to recall Yuriy Boyko from the position of a member of the Human Rights Committee. This was announced by the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Freedom of Speech, Yaroslav Yurchyshyn, according to
This is an initiative of MPs, including Yaroslav Yurchyshyn and Oleksandr Aliksiychuk, who insist on the need for this step because of Boyko’s actions, which, according to them, are contrary to the interests of Ukraine.
“It is our duty to expel collaborators from the Rada committees. Or what we can do with Boyko this week. There should be a photo of one “hero” here to attract attention, but I don’t want to show it to you once again,” Yurchyshyn said.
He emphasizes that Yuriy Boyko’s presence in the committee is unacceptable because of his political position and ties to Russian interests.
“Yuriy Boyko has just reminded everyone once again where his master is and whose interests he is really protecting. I am sorry that he is still a member of the Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights, De-occupation and Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, National Minorities and Interethnic Relations. A person who incites ethnic hatred, playing along with the aggressor, cannot be a member of this committee,” the MP emphasized.
According to Yurchyshyn, the reason for Boyko’s recall is that his appointment to the committee was initiated by the Opposition Platform – For Life political force, which has now been disbanded.
“Together with the initiator Oleksandr Aliksiichuk and our parliamentary colleagues, we are submitting a draft resolution to recall Boyko from the Human Rights Committee on the grounds that he was nominated by the now disbanded OPFL. Of course, we would like to throw him out of the Rada as a whole, but this requires a criminal verdict that would come into force. However, it is fully within the powers of the Verkhovna Rada to remove him from the committee,” Yurchyshyn added.

It should be noted that Yuriy Boyko, the former co-chairman of the Opposition Platform – For Life party, which was banned in 2022, posted a statement on TikTok in which he expressed support for people who allegedly suffer from some “radicals” in Ukraine and the alleged ban on speaking their native language.
He accused the unnamed “radicals” of forbidding people in Ukraine to speak their native language, go to the church they want, demolish monuments, and rename cities.
