Number of questions and time limit: Details of the EIT test for applicants have been released

The Ukrainian Center for Educational Quality Assessment has approved the general specifications for the Unified Entrance Exam (UEE) for admission to master’s and doctoral programs.
This was reported on the center’s official website, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
“The Ukrainian Center for Educational Quality Assessment has approved the general characteristics of the UEE tests. The number of tasks, the formats of the test questions, the time allotted for their completion, and the scoring schemes have been determined,” the statement reads.
What the exam will consist of
The EIT traditionally consists of two sections:
- the General Academic Competency Test (GACT)
- a foreign language test.
Applicants may choose one of four languages:
- English
- German
- French
- Spanish.
The tasks will be compiled in accordance with the approved testing programs.
What the general competency test will look like
The TZNK section will consist of two components:
- verbal-communicative
- logical-analytical.
In total, there will be 27 tasks:
- 4 tasks involving filling in the blanks in microtexts
- 23 multiple-choice tasks.
Approximately 75 minutes will be allotted for this section.
One test point will be awarded for each correct answer.
“You can earn between 0 and 33 test points for completing all the tasks on the foreign language test,” notes the UCEQA.
What the foreign language test entails
The “Foreign Language” section will consist of two parts:
- reading
- language use.
It will contain 30 tasks, including:
- 6 matching tasks
- 5 multiple-choice tasks
- 19 fill-in-the-blank tasks.
Approximately 45 minutes will be allotted for this test.
“You can earn between 0 and 30 test points for completing the ‘Foreign Language’ section,” the center reported.
When will the exams take place?
In 2026, the entrance exams will take place in several stages.
For master’s programs:
- main sessions—June 26 to July 14
- additional sessions — August 3–21.
For doctoral programs:
- main session — July 14–29
- additional session — August 24–28.
The Unified Entrance Exam is a mandatory step for admission to master’s and doctoral programs in Ukraine. Universities use its results when ranking applicants.
Every year, tens of thousands of applicants who plan to continue their studies after earning a bachelor’s or master’s degree take the exam.
