The Russian delegation in Geneva will be expanded: the Kremlin has announced the reason

16 February 16:11

The Russian delegation at the consultations on Ukraine in Geneva will be expanded. This was announced on Monday, February 16, by the spokesman for the head of state, Dmitry Peskov. According to him, this is due to the fact that the range of topics under discussion will be broader than in previous rounds in Abu Dhabi, reports "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Russian propaganda media.

Peskov specified that the delegation itself will be headed by Russian dictator Vladimir Medinsky’s assistant. The delegation also includes Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin and Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Igor Kostyukov.

Peskov: Medinsky’s presence is necessary

According to Peskov, Medinsky was not present in Abu Dhabi “because the issues discussed there were security issues, issues directly related to the military, and therefore our group was headed by Kostyukov, and the group consisted of military personnel.”

“This time, we intend to discuss a wider range of issues, including key issues related to territories and others related to our demands. This requires the presence of the chief negotiator, that is, Medinsky,” Peskov was quoted as saying by the media.

Negotiations in Geneva

Another round of negotiations between representatives of Russia, Ukraine, and the US is scheduled for this week. The dialogue is to take place on February 17-18 in Geneva. A representative of the Ukrainian president’s administration confirmed this information. The two previous rounds of negotiations mediated by the US in Abu Dhabi did not bring a breakthrough.
