President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called the Pokrovske direction in Donbas one of the most difficult on the frontline and said it needs to be strengthened. The president said this in his evening video address, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

“Meeting with the Minister of Defence. We talked about new defence packages for Ukraine – what we are preparing with our partners. It is important that our soldiers receive exactly what they need in these conditions of fierce fighting and pressure from the Russian army. In particular, together with the minister and the military command, we are analysing the situation in difficult areas, first of all, the Pokrovske direction in Donetsk region. It is this direction that has been and remains the main focus of Russian attacks,” he said in his video address.

Zelensky said that he had heard reports from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi twice today.

“Everything must be done and will be done to strengthen our positions, our Ukrainian ability to inflict tangible losses on the occupier,” the president added.

It should be noted that Pokrovske has been the “hottest” area on the frontline lately, where most of the fighting takes place.

On 22 July, Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi said that Russian troops, despite their losses, continued to advance towards Pokrovsk in Donetsk region.
