Recently, the sculpture “Girl on Pillows” was dismantled from the Landscape Alley in the capital. This was reported by the author of the sculpture, Konstantin Skritutsky. According to him, he found out about the dismantling by accident and did not give any permission, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

“They (the group of people who carried out the dismantling – ed.) told the gathered locals that another sculpture would be installed in this place. The project was initiated by the Andriyivska Landscape Initiative NGO, and permission to dismantle was granted by the Department of Cultural Heritage Protection. This was reported by a man who called himself a lawyer of the NGO. However, the lawyer did not provide any documents,”

Kostiantyn Skrytutskyi stressed that as soon as it became known that he was the author of the sculpture and had nothing to do with the dismantling, the police were called.

“After that, the NGO’s lawyer added information that the sculpture was dismantled because it was in a state of disrepair. Then he said that the author refused to have it repaired (which is not true, as no one asked the author). Later he said that the sculpture was being taken away for renovation,”

– the sculptor said.

Skrytutskyi’s sculptures have been decorating different parts of Kyiv since 2007. One of the most famous is Hedgehog in the Fog, based on the cartoon of the same name. In 2022, the hedgehog went to defend his homeland, at least that’s the message that appeared on the sculpture’s site. In fact, Hedgehog in the Fog is undergoing restoration, which began before the full-scale invasion, and it is unknown when it will be finished.
