Today, 21 June 2024, the Ukrainian national team will play its second match at Euro 2024 against Slovakia. The game will take place in Dusseldorf at 16:00 Kyiv time.
Tournament position
The national teams of Ukraine and Slovakia are approaching the match in different statuses – Slovakia is one of the group leaders, while Ukraine is currently one of the worst teams not only in its group but also in the entire championship.
In case of a victory over Slovakia, Ukraine will rise to the second (passing) place in the group.

The day before, the Ukrainian national team held an open training session at another stadium, not the Düsseldorf Arena, as the tournament organisers are taking care of the grass at the arena. Only Oleksandr Zinchenko and national team coach Serhii Rebrov tested the turf in Düsseldorf. Zinchenko hopes that the lawn will be cut before the game, as the grass is too tall now.

According to the latest FIFA national team rankings, Slovakia is ranked 45th and Ukraine 24th.
William Hill bookmaker also considers the Ukrainian national team to be the favourite of the match, despite their tournament position. The bookmakers give odds of 2.20 for Ukraine’s victory, 3.25 for a draw, and 3.50 for Slovakia’s victory.
