Social media outraged: ex-MP Lyashko appointed commander of unmanned systems battalion

Former member of the Verkhovna Rada and leader of the Radical Party, Oleh Lyashko, has been appointed commander of a battalion in one of the brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was reported by the commander of the intelligence unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Denys Yaroslavsky, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
The information that Lyashko is indeed the commander of the unmanned systems battalion was confirmed to Ukrainska Pravda and LIGA.net by the 63rd Brigade.
Yaroslavsky published an excerpt from an order dated 11 October.
It states that Lieutenant Lyashko was dismissed from the position of head of the unmanned systems department at the command post of the brigade’s command and control headquarters and appointed commander of the unmanned systems battalion.

At the same time, Yaroslavsky noted that this position should be held by a lieutenant colonel, while Lyashko should be a lieutenant.
“Well, the mobilisation will go according to plan and I will raise the motivation of the guys to zero, especially those who have been serving as sergeants along the 2-3 front line for the entire war without a single award! And to be honest, I’m seriously worried about what’s happening. How do you like this promotion – Lieutenant Lyashko O.V. (I must admit that sometimes he came to the KSP and hung out for reporting), appointed battalion commander in one of the brigades (lieutenant colonel position),” Yaroslavsky wrote.

Ukrainians left angry comments under Yaroslavsky’s post.
“How can someone with the rank of lieutenant become a battalion commander? I would understand with my comrades if it was a combat commander who has been everywhere in all the battles with the guys over these 2.5 years, both in the offensive and defensive and surrounded, who had the title of Hero of Ukraine, a bunch of awards, and not this character ….”(published in the original language)

“A spit in the soul of the combat commanders of the BPS. How much did each of them do for the development of the BNP, the same Magyar. And what did he do for this. Nothing. As usual, we are all about connections. It’s disgusting.” (Published in the original language)
“The guy who built this bath was dismissed and Lyashko was appointed. I’ve heard that the guys from the bath are not happy at all, Lyashko has no management style. He behaves like an MP….”
“Who led, who created – who got the laurels. That’s how hot it is with someone else’s hands.”
There were also some comments in defence of the former MP.
“I haven’t read the book, but I condemn the author. Just watch the work of the unmanned systems battalion of the 63rd Brigade on the telegram channel (https://t.me/ombr_63). And then draw your own conclusions. I will say for myself that the person you are bashing here literally manages the process of destroying the f***ers – from equipment to infantry – around the clock. And one more thing. It’s probably not for nothing that the 63rd Brigade’s BBS is in the top 10 unmanned units. Lyashko could be anywhere now, but he is in a real war. At the same time, he does not promote himself and does not give interviews. Draw your own conclusions…”

It should be noted that Lyashko’s appointment was commented on in a number of military Telegram channels. A lieutenant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the pseudonym “Alex” also posted a message.
He ironically noted that “even the tigers, who have been fighting since 2014, are delighted with such a rapid career: in less than 3 years, from a civilian to a combatant… well, this is something incredible.”

Oleh Lyashko himself did not comment on the appointment.
As a reminder, in October 2022, former MP Lyashko announced that he had joined the Ukrainian army. The politician posted the video of his oath on Facebook.
