Zelensky fires Danilov: Lytvynenko becomes NSDC secretary

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has dismissed Oleksiy Danilov from the post of Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council and appointed Oleksandr Lytvynenko, head of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SZR), to replace him. This is stated in the relevant decrees on the president’s website, Komersant ukrainskyi https://www.komersant.info/ reports.

“To dismiss Danilov Oleksiy Myacheslavovich from the post of Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine,”

– reads the text of the decree.

In his next decree, the president appointed Oleksandr Lytvynenko as the NSDC secretary.

It should be noted that Danilov had been the NSDC Secretary since 3 October 2019.

Lytvynenko became the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service on 23 July 2021. Prior to that, from 4 April 2014 to 13 August 2019, he was Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council.

What is known about Oleksandr Lytvynenko

Oleksandr Lytvynenko is a Doctor of Political Science, Professor, Honoured Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine. He holds the rank of Major General.

He was born on 27 April 1972 in Kyiv.

In 2013, he graduated from the Royal College of Defence Science (RCDS), UK; in 2009, he graduated from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv with a degree in law; in 1994, he graduated from the Institute of Cryptography, Communications and Informatics of the Academy of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation with a degree in applied mathematics (he passed the lustration check in 2015)
