РОЗБІР ВІД The investigation into the circumstances of the death of mobilized Roman Sopin is progressing extremely slowly. The lawyer of the victim’s family, Oleksandr Protas, said this in an interview with the YouTube channel "Komersant Ukrainian".
“The case is not moving in the way a particularly serious crime against life and health should be investigated. Such crimes should be investigated as a matter of priority and with the utmost care. But, unfortunately, I do not see such an approach here,” he said.
The lawyer also said that there was no video footage from the Podil shopping center, and investigators did not even examine the scene.
“Even I, the lawyer of the injured party, have not seen the video. It simply does not exist. And they did not inspect the place where it happened,” said Protas.
As a reminder, 43-year-old Roman Sopin died on October 23 in a Kyiv hospital. He was admitted to the hospital on October 19. The day before, on October 18, he was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The first results of the forensic medical examination showed that Roman Sopin’s death was caused by a closed head injury.
Earlier, the lawyer of Roman Sopin’s family, Oleksandr Protas, reported that on the day of the incident, a conflict occurred between Roman and two men on the territory of the Podilsky shopping center.
In his turn, Vitaliy Silenko, a representative of the Kyiv City TCC communications group, denies this information and notes that no reports of conflict situations have been received.
“Roman Sopin was standing there, talking to other people who were there. Suddenly, he felt sick: he fainted, fell and began to convulse,” said Silenko.
The pre-trial investigation into the circumstances of Roman Sopin’s death is ongoing. It is classified under the article “premeditated murder”. Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said he was taking the case under his personal control. Military ombudsman Olga Reshetilova also expects law enforcement to work effectively, as she wrote on Facebook.
