The United States is not going to send troops to Ukraine, despite any discussions in the press. This was stated by White House spokesman Matthew Miller at a briefing, according to Komersant ukrainskyi ![]()
The journalist asked the spokesman whether the US was really angry with French President Macron for his statements about sending Western troops to Ukraine. In response, the White House spokesman was categorical.
“I don’t have any reaction to this report and I’m not going to review the meeting in detail, but of course we made it clear that the United States is not going to send troops to Ukraine. President Macron is a long-time ally of the United States, and we work productively with him on a number of issues, including support for Ukraine,”
– miller said.
Financial assistance
The US Congress has been unable to agree on a military aid bill for Ukraine since autumn 2023. President Joe Biden has proposed a national security bill worth more than $100 billion, including $61 billion to help Kyiv.
The document was not approved by Republicans, who want to include in the bill tighter border and migration measures on the US-Mexico border. US President Joe Biden, in turn, said that he would not support the bill on aid to Israel initiated by Republicans in the House of Representatives without taking into account Ukraine’s needs.
on 13 February, the US Senate passed a bill unblocking aid to Ukraine. It provides for aid to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan totalling $95.34 billion, of which $61 billion is earmarked for Ukraine.
The bill must now be supported by the US House of Representatives, where Republicans are also refusing to vote in favour of aid to Ukraine.
