US vows to defend every inch of NATO territory after Russian drones invade Poland

Acting US Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dorothy Shea said that the United States is ready to defend the territory of the Alliance after Poland shot down Russian drones that violated its airspace.

This is reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the website of the US Department of State.

According to Dorothy Shea, Washington “will defend every inch of NATO territory” and supports allies in the face of “disturbing airspace violations.”

She noted that Russia has intensified its bombing campaign in Ukraine, which has resulted in loss of life and damage to civilian infrastructure.

She stated that these actions, as well as Russia’s intentional or unintentional violations of the airspace of a U.S. ally, demonstrate a tremendous lack of respect for the United States’ good faith efforts to end the conflict.

“The war between Russia and Ukraine must end. We cannot allow it to escalate into a wider conflict. Russia must demonstrate its seriousness by taking immediate, concrete steps towards peace,” the diplomat said.

Almost 50 UN member states condemned Russia’s invasion of Polish airspace on the night of September 10. The statement was read out by Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Marcin Bosacki before the start of an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council.

Poland and the signatory states called on Russia to immediately stop its aggressive war against Ukraine, refrain from further provocations and comply with its obligations under the UN Charter.
