It is noted that Vitkoff’s meeting with Putin went well, but Washington still plans to extend secondary sanctions.

“The Russians are eager to continue to engage with the United States. It is expected that additional sanctions will be imposed on Friday,” Trump administration officials said.

At the same time, the White House emphasized that it positively assessed the negotiations with Russia.

on August 6, Vitkoff visited the Russian capital and had a three-hour meeting with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin. The details of the meeting are not yet disclosed in Moscow.

Later, White House Chief of Staff Donald Trump wrote on his Truth Social social network that Vitkoff had a “productive meeting” with Putin.

This was followed by a phone conversation between Zelenskyy and Trump with the participation of European leaders. Following the conversation, the Ukrainian leader said that “it seems that Russia is now more inclined to a ceasefire, the pressure on them is working.”

At the same time, he emphasized that the main thing is that Moscow does not deceive either Kyiv or Washington in the details.
