US to share intelligence with Ukraine for strikes deep into Russia

The United States will provide Ukraine with intelligence information to launch long-range missile strikes on Russia’s energy infrastructure, The Wall Street Journal writes, citing US officials, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

The newspaper reports that President Donald Trump has signed a decree authorizing the country’s intelligence and the Pentagon to assist Ukraine in launching strikes. The US has made the same request to its NATO allies.

“The expanded intelligence sharing with Kyiv is the latest sign that Trump is stepping up his support for Ukraine as his efforts to advance peace talks have stalled,” the article says.

According to WSJ sources, this is the first time Kyiv will receive American assistance in long-range missile strikes. So far, Washington’s support has been limited to drones and missiles.

“The intelligence sharing means Ukraine will be able to strike refineries, pipelines, power plants and other infrastructure far from its borders to deprive the Kremlin of revenue and oil,” the article says.

At the end of September, US Special Envoy Keith Kellogg said in an interview that Washington does not prohibit Kyiv from striking deep into Russian territory. According to him, the country has no untouchable places in this matter.
