US promises Ukraine more weapons by Christmas

7 December 02:10

The United States has promised to increase arms supplies to Ukraine before Christmas, the Kyiv Post reports, citing sources in the West, "Komersant Ukrainian".

Senior Pentagon officials have warned partners in Europe that despite the increase in military aid to Kyiv, most of the defense responsibilities will be transferred to NATO after 2027, the newspaper writes.

According to the sources, the United States will no longer be the main guarantor of security in the bloc in terms of non-nuclear weapons. The country’s top priority remains the Indo-Pacific region, and the United States cannot fight two wars at the same time, so defense commitments in the alliance need to be redistributed.

This week, U.S. President Donald Trump said that the U.S. is no longer “spending a single penny” to help Ukraine, as it did during his predecessor’s tenure. The current leader emphasized that Washington is selling everything to NATO.
