The US considers its security guarantees for Ukraine to be more important than those of Europe

The United States believes that its potential security guarantees for Ukraine are more important than the commitments of European countries.

This was reported by Politico, citing a source in the administration of US President Donald Trump, according to Komersant.

The assessment was made following trilateral consultations between Russia, the US, and Ukraine in Abu Dhabi. The American source spoke disparagingly about the contribution of the European “coalition of the willing.”

“The efforts of the ‘coalition of the willing’ are nice. They have a couple of helicopters, a couple of soldiers, and a couple of guarantees here and there, but if you talk to the Ukrainians, it’s really the American security guarantees that matter,” the publication quotes the source as saying.

Politico also writes that US President Donald Trump has once again stated that the United States will not send its troops to Ukraine, but will provide assistance.

According to representatives of the US Department of Defense, the US’s commitments will likely include satellite and intelligence support, occasional drone flights to monitor the line of contact, and logistical assistance.

Negotiations in Abu Dhabi

We remind you that negotiations between the US, Ukraine, and Russia aimed at a peaceful settlement have ended in Abu Dhabi. Although the Ukrainian side claims that the dialogue was constructive, the issue of territories remains unresolved. The Kremlin insists on the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from Donbas, but Kyiv is categorically opposed to this.

US Special Representative Steve Witkoff gave a positive assessment of the talks in Abu Dhabi and added that the parties had agreed to continue them next week.
