Why Trustee Plus closed registration for Ukrainians: details of the decision

Trustee Plus, a cryptocurrency platform founded by Ukrainians, has stopped registering new users from Ukraine. This decision is due to regulatory uncertainty in the country. This was reported by the company’s support service, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
The company explained that the restriction applies only to those who are on the territory of Ukraine. At the same time, Ukrainians with permanent residence in EU countries can still open new accounts.
You can still register in the app using a Ukrainian phone number. However, when opening an account, you must specify your country of residence and provide documents to prove your identity – at this stage, a notification pops up that the service is not available for Ukraine.
Reasons for suspending the registration of Ukrainians
“Unfortunately, the registration of Ukrainians residing in Ukraine has been restricted due to regulatory uncertainty,” the Trustee Plus support team said.
It is known that this restriction is due to several factors, among which legal uncertainty is a leading one.
Earlier, Trustee Plus CEO Vadym Hrusha noted that the company decided not to wait for the situation in Ukraine to be resolved and to suspend research of the local market, focusing on the European direction, where clear rules are already in place.
The move comes amid reports that the draft law on virtual assets was withdrawn from consideration at the initiative of the President’s Office. The company cannot predict exactly when the situation will change.

There is currently no information on whether this restriction will affect existing users. The company’s support team noted that they do not currently have the relevant data.
In 2024, the company showed impressive results: more than 151,000 Ukrainians issued cryptocurrency cards, and the number of app downloads exceeded 700,000. In addition, the volume of exchange transactions reached 27 million, which indicates the growing demand for the company’s products among users.
