According to the Climatology Department of the Borys Sreznevsky Central Geophysical Observatory, a steady downward transition of the average daily air temperature through 0°C occurred in Kyiv on November 24, indicating the beginning of meteorological winter in the capital. This is stated in the post of the Ukrhydrometeorological Center on its Facebook page, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
Forecasters note that this year winter came to Kyiv 5 days earlier than the climatic norm.
The earliest winter came to Kyiv was on October 20, 1920, and the latest was on December 29, 2015. In 2019-2020, the meteorological winter in the capital did not come.

Meanwhile, Natalia Ptukha, head of the media relations department at the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center , told us what the first month of the calendar winter in Ukraine will be like.
According to her, the weather conditions are currently influenced by an anticyclone, the center of which is located in the northeast of Ukraine. Its ridge keeps the weather stable with almost no precipitation, but with the gloom, high humidity and fog characteristic of winter anticyclones.
In the second decade of December, Ukrainians should expect an increase in wind and precipitation: rain at above-zero temperatures and sleet at below-zero temperatures. In the south of the country, temperatures may warm up to 15 °C during the daytime, due to the influence of warm air masses from the southwest. Meanwhile, in the west and north, temperatures will remain around 0 °C.
