Supernova Airlines (Nova Poshta) has received permission to fly to Lviv. This is evidenced by an order published on the website of the State Aviation Administration, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
Supernova Airlines has received permission to operate flights on the Lviv – Prague – Lviv and Kyiv – Prague – Lviv routes. The aircraft will operate seven days a week.
The right to fly is valid from 1 November 2024 and is granted for an unlimited period.

However, in a commentary to Suspilne, representatives of Nova Poshta explained that the permit is technical and no one is going to start flights while hostilities are ongoing.
“To be able to fly immediately after the opening of Ukrainian airspace, you need to obtain a commercial permit. Obtaining this permit means that we will be able to fly the specified routes as soon as it becomes procedurally possible – that is, when the airspace is opened,” the company said.
Tymur Tkachenko, Deputy Minister of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine, alsocommented on the issue.
“The right granted is not an actual permission to fly, but only a commercial opportunity to transport cargo on the specified routes. Currently, the company has received an Operator’s Certificate and a Cargo Carriage Licence, i.e. it has completed the cycle of formation as an airline,” the official wrote on his Telegram channel.
On 17 October, Supernova received permission from the EU Aviation Safety Agency to fly in Europe.
Supernova Airlines was founded in 2021. The company received an operator’s certificate number UA 062. This enables the company to launch its own cargo flights.
In May 2023, Supernova Airlines operated its first flight on the Riga – Rzeszow – Riga route. The first flight was operated in cooperation with the Latvian airline RAF-Avia on an ATR 72 aircraft.
on 18 September 2024, Supernova Airlines made its first flight on its own Boeing 737-800SF aircraft flying the flag of Ukraine with Ukrainian registration marks UR-NPA. This was a certification flight, one of the final steps in the process of the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine adding the Boeing 737-800SF type to Supernova’s operator certificate.
As a reminder, Ukraine’s airspace was closed to civil aviation on 24 February 2022, and the issue of resuming flights has been raised many times before. In July 2023, the Ukrainian Air Force stressed that the resumption of air traffic is still dangerous due to the constant threat of Russian missile strikes and drones.
