Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, 46 Ukrainian soldiers have gone abroad for a holiday and have not returned to Ukraine. Slidstvo.info learned about this from a response to a request from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
The Main Directorate of the Military Service reported that servicemen can cross the border on a general basis, with their passage carried out by authorised officials.
In addition, there are no restrictions on the length of leave for military personnel to travel abroad. They only need to obtain permission from their military unit commander.
“In the period from 24 February to 30 September 2024, 46 cases were recorded when servicemen did not return to Ukraine after a holiday abroad. Such servicemen were recognised as having left their place of service without permission,” the response to the request reads.
The Ministry of Defence does not provide information on violations of the law during border crossings.
At the same time, border guards record daily attempts by men subject to military service to illegally cross the border at various points.
Earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine reported the detention of a former deputy head of the Volyn regional military administration. According to the investigation, she was making money from a scheme with evaders.
