The National Cashback programme has been launched: how to get 10% for buying Ukrainian goods

On 2 September 2024, Ukraine officially launched the National Cashback programme , which will allow citizens to return 10% of the cost of purchases of domestic goods. This is provided for by a government decision, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
“National cashback will be provided in case of purchase and payment with a payment card (salary, pension, credit, etc.) for Ukrainian goods, except for excisable goods.
The funds received as part of the cashback can be spent on services such as medical, utility, sports, cinema, train tickets, and others. Or you can donate to the Armed Forces or buy military bonds.
The maximum cashback amount is UAH 3 thousand per month.
Cashback will be provided for Ukrainian-made goods, including medicines and medical devices.
The cashback will not be applied to excisable goods. Participation of buyers, producers and sellers in the programme is voluntary, so the store will inform the buyer whether cashback is available for a particular product in a particular store. This can also be checked on the programme’s website.
Currently, more than 300 manufacturers and more than 20,000 retail outlets have joined the programme, offering more than 37,000 products. The largest participating retailers include: “ATB, Silpo, Novus, Varus and Auchan.
The cashback funds can be used to pay for utilities, medical services, sports activities, cinema or theatre tickets, restaurant bills, transport services, mobile communications, or to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
How to get cashback for purchasing Ukrainian goods
To receive cashback, a citizen needs to open a special account and receive a virtual or physical card from their bank or an app.
Consent to the transfer of transaction data when purchasing goods from selected cards.
And then select the National Cashback service in the Diia mobile application.
The funds accumulated during the month will be transferred to the created card once a month until the 20th of the following month. For example, cashback for goods purchased in September will be credited to your account by 20 October.
It will be impossible to withdraw cash from the account where cashback funds are credited.
Cashback funds accrued in 2024 can be used until 31 January 2025.
How to open a card at PrivatBank for the cashback programme
PrivatBank is a partner of the National Cashback programme: starting from August 2024, bank customers can issue a special virtual card “Made in Ukraine” in the Privat24 mobile application or the Privat24 web version, to which the state will transfer funds.
All PrivatBank customers will be notified when the card is available in Privat24.
To participate in the programme, customers need to follow the following steps:
- In banks where they already have accounts (e.g. PrivatBank or Oschadbank), grant permission to transfer transaction data from selected cards when purchasing goods in participating stores. This can be done either in the banking app or directly at the bank.
- In one of the banks participating in the programme, issue a special card to receive cashback. You can choose a virtual card by applying for it in the banking mobile application or a physical card by contacting the bank directly.
- Update the Diia mobile application to the latest version and select the National Cashback service. In the application, specify a special card to which cashback will be credited monthly.
- Make purchases of goods from Ukrainian manufacturers participating in the programme in participating stores using a registered bank card.
