UBD status can be issued automatically: what is known

Soldiers will be able to receive the status of combatants automatically. This is stated in the in a resolutionpublished on the Government portal, reports "Komersant Ukrainian".

The resolution was developed by experts from the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine to implement recent amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On the Status of War Veterans and Guarantees of Their Social Protection”.

The new Procedure defines the procedure, grounds and list of information required for granting the status of a combatant during the period of martial law.

This status is deemed to be granted after the relevant entry is published in the Unified State Register of War Veterans. In this case, information is entered into the register by authorised persons of military units within five days from the date of commencement of execution of a combat order (instruction).

The grounds for granting the UBD in the automatic mode are

1. for persons (except for persons who were members of a volunteer formation of a territorial community) who participated in combat missions directly in the areas of hostilities or in the temporarily occupied territories – information confirming that the person performed special tasks in the areas of hostilities or in the temporarily occupied territories during martial law while directly participating in activities necessary to ensure the defence of Ukraine in connection with the aggression of the Russian Federation.
2. for persons enrolled in a volunteer territorial community formation who participated in combat missions directly in the areas of military operations or in the temporarily occupied territories – information about

• the military unit of the territorial defence forces of the Armed Forces, which is operationally subordinate to the volunteer formation of the territorial community.
• name of the volunteer formation of the territorial community.
• the period of performing combat missions directly in the areas of military operations or in the temporarily occupied territories.
• place of performance of combat missions directly in the areas of military operations or in the temporarily occupied territories.
• the date and number of the order of the group commander to join the forces and means of the relevant defence forces.
• the date and number of the combat order of the commander of the military unit of the territorial defence forces of the Armed Forces, under whose operational subordination the volunteer formation of the territorial community is.

It should be noted that a little earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers simplified the procedure for obtaining the status of a TFC. Now, defenders who have served or are serving in the Security and Defence Forces are exempt from the obligation to personally search for and collect the necessary documents to obtain the status of a combatant. This function will be taken over by the relevant commissions that make decisions on granting the status,

The main innovations include the introduction of an electronic cabinet in the Unified State Register of War Veterans, which simplifies access to the necessary information and the relevant records for applicants, secretaries of commissions and administrators of Administrative Service Centres.

The possibility of submitting applications in paper or electronic form has also been established, depending on the category of persons.
