A meeting of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities under the President of Ukraine was held in Lviv to discuss the results of this year’s work and formulate the main areas of activity for the next year. This was reported by the official website of the President of Ukraine, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
The Head of State called community support programs, domestic defense production, and Ukraine’s foreign policy work the fundamental topics of this meeting.
“Resilience at the front, resilience within Ukraine, resilience of relations with our partners – all this is important, and the relevant steps are envisaged by the working documents on resilience – at the level of the Office, the government, and the parliament. I ask all of you to do your best to support the frontline, the families of our soldiers, as well as the industries involved in defense needs,” the President said.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal outlined eight key areas that the government is working on. The first of them is financial sustainability.
“The resource of local budgets in 2024 is over UAH 285 billion. Next year, the potential for financial sustainability will increase to UAH 328 billion of budget resources. Communities receive subsidies and subventions from the state to fulfill their functions,” said Denys Shmyhal.
According to him, the Government also continues to work on the recovery program, which is primarily taking place in critical clusters: energy, housing, education, and healthcare.
The next area is defense, and this year, according to the Prime Minister, the Government has allocated more than UAH 37 billion for the creation and construction of fortifications in the third line of defense.
The Government is also focusing on helping medical and educational institutions, the heating season, social support and business assistance.
In total, 280 participants attended the meeting, with over 1400 more members of Congress, as well as the ambassadors of the United States, France, Denmark, Austria and Greece joining online.
