Facts of disease with a new strain of Stratus covidae (XFG) have been confirmed in seven oblasts and the city of Kiev. The incidence of the disease continues to grow, and doctors remind that the most effective method of preventing the disease remains vaccination. This was reported by the Center for Public Health, informs "Komersant Ukrainian"
“Now the situation with the incidence of COVID-19 is completely controlled and does not cause an excessive burden on the medical system. At the same time, like last year, there is an increase in the incidence of COVID-19 during the summer period. Thus, according to the routine surveillance system, last week 684 cases of COVID-19 were recorded against 494 cases in the previous week”, – said Acting Director General of the CDC Alexey Danilenko.
According to him, Stratus is currently one of the two dominant in the world, along with NB.1.8.1 (Nimbus), which has not yet been detected in Ukraine. Reportedly, it demonstrates an increased ability to spread, but does not lead to a more severe course of the disease.
The main symptoms are severe fatigue, cough, and loss of voice. Blood tests often do not show changes, indicating a late activation of the immune system. Doctors advise at the first manifestations to immediately contact the medics.
In most cases, the clinical picture is limited to upper respiratory symptoms in the form of hoarseness.
Treatment:
- For at-risk groups (people with chronic diseases, the elderly, children under a year) – a mandatory visit to the family doctor.
- For others – isolation for up to 5 days to avoid spreading the virus, even among family members.
Vaccination remains the most effective defense against covida. Most people only need one shot per year under the simplified vaccination scheme. Health professionals also note that more doses – revaccination in 6-12 months – are provided for people at risk of COVID-19, namely: adults and children with weakened immunity or chronic diseases; pregnant women; people over 60 years of age; members of the professional risk group (teachers, military, doctors, etc.).
Vaccination against COVID-19 is free for all Ukrainians, and vaccines are available in sufficient quantity. To be vaccinated against COVID-19, it is enough to go to a family doctor.
Recall that over the past month in Kiev significantly increased the number of hospitalizations due to coronavirus – from 15 to 68 people. Among the hospitalized – 24 children. All patients have a severe course of the disease and need medical supervision, treatment and oxygen support.
