Priests organized an underground winery: BES seizes tons of counterfeit wine

Employees of the BES of the Kyiv region uncovered and stopped the underground production of alcoholic beverages in the Kyiv and Rivne regions, which was organized by priests of the UOC. This is reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine.
A group of people has been identified who set up mass production of counterfeit products, namely grape wine, in the Kyiv and Rivne regions.
“The offenders purchased the necessary equipment, raw materials and supplies for their illegal activities. They sold alcohol dangerous to human life and health in retail and wholesale batches,” the statement said.
The BES detectives conducted 13 authorized searches at the facilities where the illegal production took place, in vehicles and at the suspects’ residences.
During the searches, almost 20 thousand liters of counterfeit alcohol, equipment for bottling alcoholic beverages, draft records, computer equipment, financial documents, flash drives and other material evidence were seized.
The estimated value of the seized excisable goods is about UAH 1.8 million.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
