Holiday price reduction: tangerine prices in Kyiv fell in December

14 December 22:12

In December 2025, tangerine prices in Kyiv declined, which became a noticeable trend in the capital’s fruit market ahead of the New Year holidays. Despite the traditionally high demand during this period, the cost of certain types of tangerines in retail chains was lower than in November.

This is reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the Ministry of Finance‘s analysis.

In particular, the average price of ordinary tangerines in December amounted to 57.95 UAH per kilogram. In the Novus and Metro chains, they could be purchased for UAH 54.99 and UAH 54.50, respectively, and in Auchan they were even cheaper, at UAH 53.40. The highest price was recorded in Megamarket – UAH 68.90 per kilogram. For comparison, in November 2025, the average monthly price for tangerines was 62.52 UAH/kg, which is a decrease of almost 5 UAH.

At the same time, prices for imported tangerines from Spain remained relatively high in December, averaging 162.00 UAH per kilogram. This is slightly higher than in November, when the average price was 151.30 UAH/kg, which can be explained by limited supplies and higher logistics costs.

The most significant price reduction was observed in the clementine tangerine segment. In December, Auchan sold them at UAH 74.90 per kilogram, while in November the average monthly price reached UAH 114.80 per kilogram. Thus, the decline exceeded 35%, which was good news for consumers.

In general, December 2025 showed that even at the peak of seasonal demand, prices can be adjusted downward due to increased supply and competition between retailers. For Kyiv residents, this means a more affordable holiday table and the opportunity to choose quality fruit at more favorable prices.
