Ukrposhta will soon present Ukrainians with a new postage stamp dedicated to the sunken Russian ships. Ihor Smelyansky, CEO of Ukrposhta, told this in an exclusive commentary to [comersant ].
According to him, the new postal set will include a stamp depicting sunken Russian ships, an envelope with an illustration of a naval battle, and a postcard with a “grain corridor”. All images are interconnected.
“The release is scheduled for 8 May. It will be a cemetery of Russian ships. We are preparing some interesting surprises, so it will be fun. It will depict a cemetery made of ships, and one of them will not be flooded, but I hope that our Defence Forces will soon send it to the others,”
– said the Ukrposhta director.
According to Ihor Smelyansky, the idea to create the stamp was his own. The best one was chosen from six proposed designs.
“The idea is mine, and the execution is by artists. I want it to be different in some way, but to be artistic. That’s why we went through 5-6 designs. In general, there will be two themes: the first is the cemetery of Russian ships. And the second is the “grain corridor” that we have thanks to this cemetery. The grain corridor will be depicted on a separate postcard. Our dry cargo ship will be there, and this will be the general theme. There will also be an envelope with a picture of a naval battle. So it will be a festive set,”
– he summed up.
In early April, Ukrposhta, together with the Ministry of Strategic Industries, announced the release of a stamp dedicated to the employees of Ukraine’s defence industry.
on 2 February, Ukrposhta issued a stamp in the Heroic Professions of War series dedicated to postal workers – “Ukrposhta is always with you”.
Earlier, Ihor Smelyansky said that the best postage stamp of 2023 was the Eternal Memory stamp, which was dedicated to fallen servicemen. It was launched on 29 August, the Day of Remembrance of the Fallen Defenders of Ukraine. The stamp features an image of a Cossack bandura player bowing his head over the graves of his comrades.
