The world is not ready for World War III: Zelensky makes a statement

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky believes that the world is not ready for World War III at this stage. The reason for this is new technological threats and potential alliances between aggressors.
According to "Komersant Ukrainian", the head of state said this in an interview with Irish blogger Cailin Robertson.
Why World War III could happen
During the conversation, the president and the blogger discussed the conflict in the Middle East, which could potentially lead to World War III.
Zelensky noted that at the beginning of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, Moscow used drones with Iranian components to attack the country. Now Iran is receiving Russian components, which allows Tehran to attack other Middle Eastern countries and US bases.
“Yes, we can assess that these are Russian parts, not Iranian… Now Iran is attacking other countries in the Middle East and American bases, American soldiers. There have already been many casualties. Therefore, it is clear that this is the greatest risk the world has faced in recent years, because it could lead to World War III, in which we will be involved,” the head of state said.
He added that if no one stops this war now, as the West should have stopped Russia at the very beginning, then the conflict in the Middle East could be a long one, lasting at least until the fall.
Christopher Robertson noted that Zelensky actually predicted this situation a year ago. He said at the White House at the time that if Russia’s atrocities were not stopped, it would “reach your land.”
“I said there would be a Third World War. The president (Trump – ed.) did not hear me. His people may have heard, but I’m not sure they can appreciate that… Russia has started to provide support with drones and will certainly help with missiles,” the head of state said.
The Ukrainian president also added that in this scenario, there is only one question: when will the first country support the deployment of troops? In fact, this is what happened in the war against our country, when North Korea sent 10,000 soldiers to Russia.
“Yes, they are on Russian territory, but they can come to Ukraine. The same could happen with Iran. Russia can send troops,” the Ukrainian leader explained.
Why the world is not ready for a global conflict
When asked whether the world is ready for this, Zelensky said unequivocally: “The world is not ready.”
“From a technical point of view, Europe is not sufficiently prepared, only some countries are. Yes, they are on the way. The Germans are acting very quickly, but it is not enough… to prepare for such challenges this year. The northern countries… are very technological. I mean Northern Europe, they are ready,” Zelensky said.
He added that the US army is certainly very strong, but it is necessary to distinguish between war with missiles and drones and ground war (meaning that the West is ahead technologically, but experience is important in ground warfare). In the event of a major war, these factors will come together, and experience in ground warfare will be needed.
“No one now has the experience of ground forces like we do… Many human losses… New technologies, new warfare… And so I believe that the world is not ready for a world war, because a world war is not just drones and missiles. It will involve ground forces, ground offensives, and global casualties,” he concluded.
World War III
Recall that a few weeks ago, Zelensky said that, in his opinion, Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin had already started World War III. Therefore, the task now is to prevent this war from becoming large-scale, which is what Ukraine is doing.
Incidentally, in the summer of 2025, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham said that continuing to supply weapons to Ukraine is the only hope of avoiding World War III. He is convinced that the Russian Federation can only be stopped by supporting Ukraine.
At the same time, US President Donald Trump repeatedly said in 2025 that there would be no Third World War because of Ukraine.
