Power outages will last for hours: new schedules for March 24
24 March 08:00
On Tuesday, March 24, Ukraine will again implement rolling blackouts due to the impact of Russian attacks on energy infrastructure. The restrictions will apply to both industrial enterprises and residential consumers during peak hours. This was reported by NPC “Ukrenergo,” according to "Komersant Ukrainian"
When the power will be out on March 24
According to energy officials, power restrictions for businesses and industry will be in effect for most of the day—from 6:00 a.m. to midnight.
For the general public, hourly blackouts are planned during periods of peak load on the power grid:
- 6:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
- 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM
However, exact schedules may vary depending on the region and the situation in the power grid.
Why the blackout schedules were reinstated
Ukrenergo explains that the restrictions became necessary due to damage to power facilities caused by Russian missile and drone attacks.
This has caused a power shortage in the grid, which must be offset by temporary consumption restrictions.
Despite this, power companies are continuing repair work and gradually restoring the damaged infrastructure.
Are there emergency blackouts?
As of now, emergency blackouts are not being implemented. The power grid is operating in a controlled mode with planned restrictions.
However, the situation may change depending on:
- the level of electricity consumption
- the consequences of new shelling
- the technical condition of the grids.
What energy experts advise Ukrainians
Experts are urging citizens to use electricity wisely, especially during the hours when power is available according to the schedule.
In particular, they recommend:
- check the schedules on regional power companies’ websites
- not to turn on high-power electrical appliances at the same time
- to use energy-intensive appliances during daylight hours.
