Svitolina reaches the 1/8 finals of Roland Garros-2025

Ukraine’s top-ranked player Elina Svitolina continues to perform confidently at the French Open – Roland Garros 2025. In the third round match, the Ukrainian tennis player defeated American Bernarda Peru with a score of 7:6, 7:6 and reached the 1/8 finals of the tournament, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
The match lasted 2 hours and 14 minutes. the 30-year-old tennis player demonstrated a good service game – 7 aces, although she made 5 double faults.
Svitolina converted 4 of 8 break points, winning 34 winners and making 30 unforced errors.

In the opening match at Roland Garros this year, Elina defeated Turkish Zeynep Sonmez, and in the second round she confidently defeated Hungarian Anna Bondar. Thus, the Ukrainian did not lose a single set on her way to the fourth round.
Svitolina’s next opponent will be the fourth world number four, Italian Jasmine Paolini, who knocked out another Ukrainian, Yulia Starodubtseva, in the previous round (6-4, 6-1).
Svitolina is the only representative of Ukraine who managed to reach the 1/8 finals of Roland Garros 2025. Marta Kostiuk, Diana Yastremska, Angelina Kalinina, Yulia Starodubtseva and Anastasia Soboleva also played in the main draw, but all of them ended their struggle in the early stages.
Iga Szwiątek from Poland remains the current champion of the tournament, having triumphed at Roland Garros for the third time in a row last year and won her fourth title at the Paris major in the last five years.
