The global car market is growing: production increased by 3%

According to the World Organization of the Automobile Manufacturers (OICA), in January-June 2025, global vehicle production exceeded 45.6 million units. This is 3% more than in the first half of last year.
This was reported by Ukravtoprom, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
It is noted that the largest share of this number belongs to passenger cars, which were produced 33.1 million units (5%).
During the same period, 10.4 million units of light commercial vehicles were produced (-2%).
Large trucks accounted for almost 2 million units (1%) and buses – 155.6 thousand units (10%).
China remains the largest automaker in the world, where 15621285 units of vehicles were produced in six months (13%).
The United States ranks second with 5224964 units (-6%).
The third result was demonstrated by Japan – 4171653 units (7%).
The top five countries are: India – 3.2 million units (4%) and Germany – 2.2 million units (4%).
As reported, the Ukrainian car market is witnessing an increase in the share of battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) – in September 2025, they accounted for one third of the total number of cars sold, up from 15.3% a year ago.
