On the night of December 19, the Ukrainian Defense Forces hit a Russian warship and a drilling platform at an oil and gas field in the Caspian Sea, as well as a radar system in the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea.
This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
It is noted that several Ukrainian drones hit the Russian warship Project 22460 “Hunter”, which was patrolling in the Caspian Sea near an oil and gas production platform. The extent of damage and the ship’s tail number are currently being determined.
The Defense Forces also struck a drilling platform at the Filanovsky oil and gas field in the Caspian Sea. The facility, which belongs to the sanctioned Lukoil company, produces oil and gas and is used to supply resources to the Russian Armed Forces.
The extent of the damage and the platform’s ability to continue operating are currently being clarified.
In addition, in the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea, near Krasnosilske, the Ukrainian military hit the RSP-6M2 radar system. The system is used to control the movement of aircraft, in particular for precise landing in poor visibility.
US sanctions against Rosneft and Lukoil
on October 15, the United Kingdom expanded the sanctions list against Russia to include the two largest Russian oil companies, Rosneft and Lukoil.
on October 22, the US Treasury Department also announced sanctions against Rosneft, Lukoil, and their subsidiaries. The list includes more than 34 companies. The decision was made “due to Russia’s lack of serious commitment to the peace process to end the war in Ukraine.”
After the introduction of US sanctions, Chinese state-owned oil companies suspended purchases of Russian oil transported by sea.
