Forecasters gave a forecast for Christmas: will there be a real winter

20 December 04:00

In Ukraine, weather conditions are expected to change on the eve of the Christmas holidays. As early as December 25, forecasters predict a cold snap that could bring real winter feelings. This was reported by national forecaster Natalia Didenko and forecaster Vitaliy Postrygan, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

When the cold snap comes

According to Natalia Didenko, the temperature drop will coincide with Christmas.

“Just in time for Christmas, on December 25, a cold snap will begin in Ukraine,” she wrote on her Telegram page.

Forecasters say that the warm weather that has been prevailing lately will gradually give way to winter temperatures.

Arctic air and subzero temperatures

Forecaster Vitaliy Postryhan emphasized that this year Ukraine has a chance to celebrate Christmas with a winter feeling for the first time in several years.

“For the first time in three years, there is a chance to celebrate Christmas with winter weather,” he wrote on Facebook.

According to him, on December 24, the atmosphere will begin to shift to northern air flows.

“The average daily temperature will drop below 0°C,” the forecaster predicts.

Will there be snow for Christmas?

Despite the expected cold snap, weather forecasters do not predict a stable snow cover across the country. According to Postryhan, Ukraine may be covered by a short-term Arctic cold, but precipitation will be insignificant.

Light snow or sleet is possible in some places, but a full-fledged winter fairy tale with large snowdrifts is out of the question.

What Ukrainians should expect

So, Christmas 2025 may take place

  • with sub-zero temperatures;
  • with a feeling of winter cold;
  • without stable snow cover, but with possible short-term precipitation.

Forecasters advise to keep an eye on forecast updates, as the situation in the atmosphere can change.
