The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, has announced plans to increase the period of training for military personnel to participate in combat operations to 2 months and to ensure 14-day adaptation of new recruits in brigades. Syrsky wrote about this on Facebook, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
“We are now working to create conditions for the preparation for participation in hostilities to last 2 months in total. After all, high-quality training means, first of all, the preservation of the lives and health of our soldiers. In accordance with the decisions I have made, we already have the first graduates of servicemen who have undergone basic general military training (BGT) for 1.5 months – instead of the previous 30-day training,” he said.
According to him, the further course for a newcomer in a military unit is expected to last 5-14 days. However, Syrsky admits that this requirement is not always met in the current conditions of intense hostilities.
“I emphasized the need to ensure a full 14-day adaptation period for new recruits in brigades. Commanders should prepare soldiers for the challenges of modern warfare as much as possible to keep them in combat,” noted the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Syrskyi said following the annual meeting on military training. He also noted that he had heard reports on training problems and their solutions.
“I have identified tasks to improve the quality of training and increase it. In particular, updating the standards of the combat training, conducting combat training at the funds of combat brigades, etc. I am grateful to the commanders who are responsible for the training and retention of personnel,” he summarized.
