A 24-year-old taxi driver who broke his passenger’s jaw will stand trial in Kyiv. The taxi driver, enraged by the fact that the passenger had dirtied the interior of the car, hit her several times in the face and then drove away from the scene. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the Kyiv police.

According to law enforcement officials, the 27-year-old Kyiv resident felt a sharp deterioration in her well-being during the trip — she felt sick and began to feel nauseous. The taxi driver reacted aggressively: he stopped the car, kicked the passenger out, punched her twice in the face, and then drove away from the scene.

Doctors diagnosed the victim with bruises and a broken jaw.

Who is involved in the case

Investigators identified the attacker as a 24-year-old Kyiv resident who worked as a taxi driver.

Investigators from the Dnipro Police Department in Kyiv charged the man with Part 1 of Article 122 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — intentional bodily harm of moderate severity.

What is the punishment

The pre-trial investigation has been completed and the indictment has been sent to court.

If proven guilty, the taxi driver faces up to three years in prison.
