Tesla has reduced the price of its Model Y cars in the United States of America until 29 February due to lower demand, according to
with reference to Reuters.
In particular, Elon Musk’s company has reduced the prices of Model Y and Model Y Long Range by $1,000, which is 2.3% and 2% of the previous prices, respectively. Now the cost of these models is $42990 and $47990.
These new prices for rear-wheel drive Model Y and Long Range models will remain in effect until 29 February. However, from 1 March, they will increase by $1,000 or more.
Prices for Model Y Performance and other models remain unchanged, according to the company’s official website.
In January of this year, Tesla also warned of “significantly lower” sales growth due to the focus on the production of its next generation electric vehicle, codenamed “Redwood”.
One of the main challenges for Tesla is competition from affordable Chinese brands such as BYD.
Another reason for the cooling demand for electric vehicles was the rental company Hertz Global Holdings, which in January said it was selling about 20,000 electric vehicles, including Teslas, from its US fleet and opting for gas-powered vehicles due to higher costs for electric vehicles associated with collisions and damage.
Tesla shares have fallen 22.1% this year.
