Tetyana Chornovol chose the front over the parliament: the politician remains in military service for now

Military and public figure Tetyana Chornovol, who was supposed to take a seat in the Rada instead of the murdered MP Andriy Parubiy, has decided to continue her military service.

This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to a post by Tetyana Chornovol.

According to her, there is a great lack of military personnel at the front. “The shameful ‘evasion’ is being ennobled by political slogans: “Let the MPs go first”… I demonstrate an example that I choose to serve in the army, not the parliamentary hall,” she explained.

In addition, the military woman says she wants to be an example for women who are “gnawing their way into combat commanders.”

“This means that I am directly on the front line, where I command a platoon, and I personally “minus” the enemy with Stugna and FPV, and I personally hit tanks. This is a rather rare role for a woman in the Ukrainian army, because the gender majority in the army, which logically consists of men, does not want a woman to command them in battle. This is normal. But exceptions are also normal. It is quite possible for a woman to be a combat commander if she was born for war and will persistently pursue her goal, overcoming all difficulties, including gender ones,” she said.

Chornovol emphasized that she has not resigned her parliamentary powers, but has applied to the CEC for a one-year postponement.

“Now I have a year for us to defeat the aggressor and I have the moral right to leave the front. I will do my share of combat work to bring the victory closer,” says the soldier.

Chornovol is currently an active servicewoman, having fought on the front line as part of the 72nd Black Zaporizhzhia Brigade since February 24, 2022.

As a reminder, the Central Election Commission has recognized former MP Tetyana Chornovol as a Member of Parliament. She will take the place of the murdered MP Andriy Parubiy.
