Hollywood actor Tom Cruise received an honorary award from the American Film Academy during a special ceremony on November 16. It was reported by Variety, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

The award was presented to the 63-year-old actor by director Alejandro Iñárritu, who will star in Cruise’s upcoming, as yet untitled film, which will be released in October 2026.

Accepting the award, Cruz gave an emotional speech about the movie he fell in love with as a child.

“I was just a kid in a dark theater, and I remember a beam of light cutting through the room, and I looked up and saw it literally explode on the screen. Suddenly, the world became much bigger than the one I knew. Entire cultures, lives, and landscapes were unfolding before me, and it awakened a thirst for adventure, a thirst for knowledge, a thirst to understand humanity, to create characters, to tell a story, to see the world. It opened my eyes,” he recalls.

The 97th Academy Awards ceremony took place at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles on the night of March 2 to 3. The coveted statuettes were awarded to actors, directors, films and other representatives of the film industry.
