TOP-10 most popular cars imported to Ukraine: electric cars are in the lead

In September 2025, Ukrainians were actively replenishing their fleet with used cars from abroad. According to the UkrAvtoprom portal, cars less than five years old alone accounted for 35% of all imported cars, indicating a growing demand for relatively new and economical models, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
Sales and fuel preferences
A total of 8.2 thousand such cars were purchased in the first month, and most of them were electric cars. Ukrainians are increasingly choosing eco-friendly transportation, focusing on fuel economy and modern technology.
Breakdown by engine type:
- Electric cars – 55%
- Gasoline cars – 31%
- Hybrids – 9%
- Diesel – only 4%
Leaders among models
Tesla electric crossovers have become the most popular. They confidently topped the ranking, outperforming traditional gasoline and hybrid models.
Top 10 cars under 5 years old imported to Ukraine in September:
- TESLA Model Y – 929 units;
- TESLA Model 3 – 520 units;
- KIA Niro – 353 units;
- NISSAN Rogue – 232 units;
- HYUNDAI Kona – 231 units;
- VOLKSWAGEN Tiguan – 191 units;
- MAZDA CX5 – 189 units;
- AUDI E-Tron Sportback – 177 units;
- FORD Escape – 153 units;
- AUDI Q5 – 149 units.
General import figures
In total, Ukrainians imported 23.3 thousand used cars last month. Thus, one third of them are cars less than five years old, which confirms the trend towards purchasing more modern vehicles with higher safety and lower operating costs.
Electric vehicles are confidently gaining a foothold at the top of the Ukrainian car market. Tesla continues to be the undisputed favorite, and the overall import structure shows a shift in driver preferences towards environmentally friendly and technologically advanced cars.
