Total blackout: Ukrenergo explained why there is nothing to be afraid of
4 July 2024 18:02
Ukrenergo has debunked a new fake from the enemy that Ukraine is facing “zonal power cuts” and total blackouts. This was reported by [Kommersant] citing the national energy company’s Telegram channel.
This time, social media began to publish information about “zonal” power cuts in the future. It was said that different cities would allegedly be assigned to different zones and would have different duration of blackouts.
For example, such reports claimed that in the “black” zone, there would be no electricity for 12 to 18 hours a day. In the “grey” zone, people would have to sit by candlelight for 6 to 12 hours. And in the ‘white’ zone, there will be no electricity for up to 6 hours a day.
“This is just another IPSO. The fiction has no basis in fact, except for an attempt to get new subscribers to anonymous Telegram channels that will not contain true information,” Ukrenergo said.
Where to get truthful information about power outages
The national energy company called on Ukrainians to get information about forced power outages caused exclusively by missile and drone attacks by the Russian Armed Forces from reliable sources. Among them:
- ukrenergo’s pages on social media (Facebook, Telegram);
- ukrenergo’s website;
- the website of the Ministry of Energy;
- pages of the Ministry of Energy in social networks (Facebook, Telegram);
- oblenergos’ pages on social media;
- official websites of regional power distribution companies.
