Trump announces call to Putin after meeting with Zelenskiy

US President Donald Trump has said he is going to call Russian dictator Vladimir Putin after he meets with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
This was reported by a correspondent of RBC-Ukraine, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
“I will also dial Putin after this meeting, we will continue negotiations,” he said during a joint press statement with Zelenskyy just before the meeting.
Trump also said that he believes that “both presidents” (he refers to Russian dictator Putin as “president” – ed.) allegedly “want to make a deal.” He also assured that the agreement on security guarantees for Ukraine “will be strong.”
“No one even knows what will be spelled out in the security agreement. But there will be an agreement, and it will be strong… it will be a strong agreement, and European countries will be involved,” he said.
On December 28, Trump said that he had a “productive conversation” with the Russian dictator. Traditionally, Putin “suddenly” decided to call Trump before he met with Zelensky, despite the fact that the dictator had previously stated that he was not planning to talk to Trump this year.
Following the conversation, Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia was preparing a contact with the United States to understand how much US leader Donald Trump’s peace plan had changed after being agreed with Ukraine. And Putin’s aide Yuri Ishakov said that there was an agreement between the United States and Russia to create two so-called “working groups.”
Meanwhile, President Zelenskyy was assured that the “sudden” phone call between Putin and Trump did not cause concern for the Ukrainian leader, as such a move by the Kremlin was entirely predictable.
