Trump announced a meeting with Zelensky in Davos: what is known
15 January 05:34
US President Donald Trump has not ruled out the possibility of meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky during the World Economic Forum in Davos, scheduled for next week, if the Ukrainian president also attends the event. Trump made the statement in an interview with Reuters, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
He noted that if Zelensky is in Davos, he is ready to hold a meeting, as he himself will be participating in the forum.
“I will meet with him if he is there. I will be there,” Trump said.
However, it is currently unknown whether this meeting is officially planned, as the American leader did not disclose any specific details.
Is there already an agreement?
There is currently no confirmed information about the inclusion of a bilateral meeting in the official program of the forum.
Participants in the event traditionally hold both public discussions and informal talks behind closed doors, so the format of a potential meeting remains open.
Previous talks between Zelensky and Trump
It should be recalled that at the end of 2025, Zelensky and Trump already held talks in the US during the Ukrainian president’s visit. At that time, the key topics of discussion were:
- the security situation in Ukraine,
- prospects for a peaceful settlement of the war with Russia,
- security guarantees for Ukraine.
After the meeting, President Zelensky announced “significant progress” in agreeing on draft documents on security guarantees, which were almost ready for final signing. The final decision, according to him, depended on the position of the American side.
